Youth drives jeep at elephant for reels
Chikkamagaluru: A shocking video of a youth’s reckless behaviour in a forest area went viral on social media on Tuesday. In the footage, the youth is seen driving an open-top jeep directly towards a wild elephant. Angered by the vehicle’s approach, the wild elephant chased the jeep. It was revealed that the youth performed this dangerous stunt solely to create social media ‘reels’. The incident took place on Monday.
The individual was found to be a resident of Bhadravathi, and the incident reportedly took place along the Chikkamagaluru-Shivamogga border, authorities said. There are strong suspicions that the youth illegally entered the restricted Bhadra Tiger Reserve in his open jeep. The incident is said to have occurred in the Bhadra backwaters region of NR Pura taluk. The Bhadra forest officials launched a thorough investigation.
Speaking to TOI, Bhadra Tiger project director Pulkit Meena confirmed that the youth was questioned on Tuesday evening and legal action will be initiated.
