Mysuru: Farmers have warned of state-wide protests if they are asked to pay power bills which are prior to 2018. They also urged the state government not to disconnect electricity to irrigation pump sets over unpaid bills from before 2018.

Farmers who protested in front of the DC’s office here, urged the state and Central governments to procure various crops including paddy and finger millet at minimum support price. They alleged that presently these grains are procured below the MSP fixed by the Central government.

movement through which farmers will barge into government offices against corruption in the state bureaucracy. “We will launch this agitation peacefully. The corruption has reached its peak now,” he alleged.

He urged the state government to ensure uninterrupted power supply to irrigation pump sets, and sufficient supply of sowing seeds and fertilizers. He alleged that both the state and Central governments are engaged in anti-farmer policies.
