Vontikoppal rowdy’s murder was revenge attack: Police

Mysuru: Two days after the brutal murder of rowdysheeter Chandru in Vontikoppal, Mysuru City police have achieved a breakthrough by arresting seven youths, all belonging to a rival gang, on Saturday. Police have concluded it to be a revenge attack. Four accused are still at large and police have launched a search to trace and arrest them. The arrested youths have been remanded in judicial custody by a local court, VV Puram police said.All the arrested are followers of Manjesh, who is in judicial custody in a murder case. And none of them have any criminal antecedents, the police said. All these youths are aged between 22 and 30 years.Ramesh Banoth, commissioner of police, Mysuru City, told STOI that the accused have informed the officers that Chandru was conspiring to eliminate Manjesh. Chandru was also accused in murder of Devendra, also a gang member of Manjesh, but was acquitted. Manjesh will be taken into custody for questioning as the arrested youths claimed that at his behest, they committed the crime, the top cop revealed.In all, 11 were involved in the killing of Chandru, who was brutally stabbed and assaulted with blunt and sharp objects to death on the evening of Thursday right in front of his house on Kalidasa Road in Vontikoppal. All the assailants are residents of Paduvarahalli and other parts of Mysuru and they had come in two-wheelers to commit the offence in a public place.
