Hundreds of followers of former chief minister late S Nijalingappa gathered at his samadhi beside the National Highway 4 near Chitradurga to paying obeisance on the statesman's 108 birth anniversary on Thursday.

CHITRADURGA: Hundreds of followers of former chief minister late S Nijalingappa gathered at his samadhi beside the National Highway 4 near Chitradurga to paying obeisance on the statesman's 108 birth anniversary on Thursday. Sri Sivamurthy Sharanaru of Chinmuladri Bruhanmutt, H Hanumanthappa, chairman Central Silk Board and a host of local leaders offered floral tributes to the samadhi in a solemn occasion.

Kiran Shankar, the youngest son of late leader and managing trustee of the samadhi, while talking to reporters informed that most of the construction at samadhi has been completed at a cost of Rs 2.7 crore. A few remaining works such as laying of granites, land scaping and fixing of fountains will be completed by the end of March next year. Another Rs 50 lakh is required for that, he said.
