, honorary secretary, RV educational institutions, and Anand Sankeshwar, a businessman, during the 17th annual convocation of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) at 11.30am on Monday.

told reporters that AB Basavaraju, director (technical), department of electronics, IT, BT, science and technology, MD, KSTePS will deliver the convocation address.
While 48 candidates will get gold medals, 38 students will get various cash awards. About 31 candidates will be conferred with PhDs.
About 8,338 candidates will be conferred various degrees. A majority (5,066) are women. Among the 10,744 candidates who appeared for various examinations, 8,388 cleared them with a pass percentage of 77.6%. The pass percentage of the women candidates (72.8%) is lower than their male counterparts (73.8%).

Vidyashankar

said efforts are done to ensure justice for the students of 2012-13, and 2013-14 batches by getting UGC recognition. He added that KPSC and other recruitment agencies are considering the degrees of these students.
NAAC accreditation
Vidyashankar said KSOU is planning to apply for the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation. “The University Grants Commission (UGC) has advised all open universities to get NAAC recognition. As per the directions, we will also apply,” he said.
