MYSORE: City police arrested a person from
Tamil Nadu who was posing as a cop and threatening a person on Irvin Road on Monday.
During investigation he told becoming a cop was his dream and passion.
Mandi inspector T B Rajanna said Kalaivannan, 32, son of Sampath Kumar from Chennai, is a degree and a diploma holder in several subjects. He had come down to Mysore last December.
Kalaivannan had employed three women who worked as DTP operators and helped PhD and MPhil students write their thesis.
Meanwhile, he befriended Umavathi, an administrative officer, and took her land records from her. When Umavathi's husband, Muralidhar, learnt about it, he tried to convince her to get the records back. But when this did not work, he approached Mandi police and filed a complaint.
When Kalaivannan learnt of the complaint, he dressed up as a cop, went Muralidhar's house and threatened him to withdraw his complaint against him. He was later arrested by police.
The inspector said Kalaivannan had posed as inspector of excise department and also the CBI. "We are yet to unearth detailed reports about his frauds and other illegal activities," Rajanna said.
A case has been registered at Mandi Police Station.
