Teachers Day celebrated at Kalamandira

Speaking after inaugurating the teachers day celebration at Kalamandira here on Monday citing examples of S Radhakrishnan he said Dr Radhakrishnan though began his career as a teacher later entered politics and become sound administrator.

MYSORE: A good teacher can also become good administrator said District incharge minister SA Ramdas.

Teachers play important role in grooming students career; a good teacher can make lot of changes; they should imbibe moral education, added Ramdas. Mysore is known for education and lot of quality teachers are produced here, it should continue to produce more quality teachers in coming days too, added Ramadas.
Mysore placed better in 2010-11 SSLC exams, they improved in their ranking, they gone up by ten places, in coming days they should improve further in SSLC and make more progress in II PUC added Ramadas. He called upon the teachers especially the physical education teachers to take part in the Yoga Dasara which will be held from September 18.
H.S. Umesh, Principal, Sharada Vilas College in his keynote address said Radhakrishnan during his one hour class used to attract students by following some good methods; to start with for ten minutes he used to interact and talk with students later for 30 minutes he used to take lesson while the last 15 minutes he used to keep it for discussion were in students used to clarify their doubts. The present system lacks this method, instead of taking classes for one hour some of the teachers take classes for just 30 minutes; this is also kind of corruption, added Umesh, so he called upon the teachers to be self legislate.

On the occasion 10 primary teachers and 5 high school teachers were felicitated. The event was organized by Zilla Panchayat and Department of Public Instruction. Many schools and colleges also celebrated teachers day by conducting various programs. Some of the schools and colleges also felicitated and honored their teachers for their contribution in the field.

Earlier MLA Tanveer Sait who was upset for delay in starting the program due to late arrival of Ramdas and PS Vastrad, who arrived 45 minutes and 30 minutes respectively late for the program, left the venue before the commencement of the program. He said these people are conducting these programs for just for name sake.
