Mysuru: Students from the city’s Excel Public School have emerged as one of the top 10 participants in ShePreneur Programme, a CSR initiative of Dell Technologies in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, and Learning Links Foundation as an implementation partner. Three Class IX students of the school - Asmita Rao, G Deeksha and Gahana H Prasad -- presented a millet-vending machine for dispensing customised millet malts at the programme.
The team contended with 26 other innovative projects presented by teams from all over India to secure the coveted spot.
The students said the boot camp helped them to put their thoughts and ideas into action. Principal KG Mathew said this success is an inspiration to aspiring young student entrepreneurs.
GRS Fantasy Park wins two national awards Mysuru: City-based GRS Fantasy Park has won two national awards at the prestigious national amusement awards, held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. Indian Association of Amusement Parks and Industries organised this event. Ashwin Dange, director and business head, and Balakrishna Kini, operations head received the honours on behalf of the park. This is the park’s second consecutive win in innovation in digital marketing category.

NH work to set rolling
Mysuru: Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari will perform the bhoomi puja for the four-laning of Mysuru-Kushalanagar National Highway on March 10 at Maharaja’s College ground. Mysuru MP Pratap Simmha said the minister will also launch construction of entry and exit points on the Bengaluru-Mysuru national highway which will be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 1,200 crore. The minister will also launch several new projects taken up by the ministry, including four-laning of Hunsur bypass and bridge construction, level-crossing works, including one near Crawford Hall of UoM, in the city, grade separator on city ring road.
DC prohibits unauthorised activities across rivers
Madikeri: Anticipating summer might lead to problems of drinking water supply in Kodagu district, DC Venkat Raja prohibited drawing of water from rivers. In the order, Venkat Raja has prohibited all private activities including using pumpsets or using river water for other purposes through canals across all the rivers. The order has been passed in the public interest as per Section 46 of The Karnataka Irrigation Act, 1965 and the powers conferred under Section 133 R/W Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 with immediate effect, he said. He stated that the violation of the order will be punished under Section 51B of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
21-year-old youth found hanging from tree
Mysuru: A 21-year-old youth was found hanging from a tree-top in Kuvempu Nagar police limits. Vrushabendra of Marballi village left his village in Mysuru taluk late on Tuesday informing the family that he would be visiting his grandmother’s house but didn’t return home. The next morning his body in a park in BEML Layout in southwest Mysuru, police said. According to his family members, the youth had health issues and was upset over it. They claimed he may have ended life out of dejection. A case has been taken up.
Registrar of Gangubai Hangal univ passes away
Mysuru: Senior KAS officer MR Rajesh, who was serving as registrar of Karnataka State Dr Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University, passed away. State govt has directed the Mysuru district administration to conduct his final rites with state honours.
