MYSORE: While speeches, parades and cultural programmes marked Independence Day on Friday, members of 'Mysore Revolutionaries' celebrated the event in a different style. The music troupe went round various schools in the city and played to students and teachers their patriotic album '1 Nation.' The 4.57-minutes album has Kannada songs highlighting the unique culture and tradition of India, stories of freedom fighters and contribution of the country's military force.
What prompted the troupe to come out with this special album is the observed tendency among the current day youth to appreciate all that is western and condemn Indian values and culture. "We keep hearing youths in our peer groups praising other countries and looking down upon our own society and value system. We want to develop a sense of unity and patriotism among children and youths through our songs," said N V Harsha, a member of the troupe.
'1 Nation' is the second release of the troupe. Earlier, during the Lok Sabha polls, the team had produced Warning Bell, an album to spread awareness on the significance of voting among youths.
Appreciating the endevours of the troupe, Krupalini S Raj, vice-principal, Sri Cauvery Educational Institution said, "The songs of the album are motivating and appeal to one and all. It is a commendable gesture from the team."
