Forest mobile squad personnel

arrested a

snake venom

Mysuru

late on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, the

squad sleuths

took Raju, 42, i nto their custody from KSRTC sub-urban bus stand. Raju who works at a timber yard in Kodagu was carrying the venom in a one-litre plastic bottle covered inside a cloth bag.

Raju is pleading innocence claiming he is only asked to deliver the bottle in Mysuru. Sources claim that the venom was extracted from snakes in possession of snake charmers in Kodagu region and venom has big value in black market. Moreover the liquid has to be examined to confirm that it is pure venom.

Ambulance driver killed

Lokesh Aradhya, an ambu lance driver died on the spot after his vehicle collided with a truck near Hunsur town in the wee hours of Tuesday. Ananda, a paramedical staff, escaped with injuries, Hunsur police said.

The incident happened around 3am when he was coming to Mysuru. Lokesh was a resident of Periyapatna.
