Shivamogga SP launches reflector sticker campaign to curb accidents
Shivamogga: Shivamogga superintendent of police (SP) GK Mithun Kumar launched a reflector sticker campaign targeting goods vehicles, autorickshaws, and tractors. The initiative aims to reduce accidents caused due to poor visibility at night. The campaign comes in response to the rising number of accidents in Shivamogga district, primarily due to lack of reflectors on vehicles. As part of the campaign, reflector stickers were affixed on 719 vehicles across the district on the first day, Thursday, including 139 in Shivamogga-B subdivision, 243 in Bhadravati subdivision, 149 in Sagar subdivision, 166 in Shikaripura subdivision, and 22 in Thirthahalli subdivision. The campaign will continue to spread awareness. The police department's efforts also included removing harsh and shrill-sounding vehicle horns and raising public awareness about traffic rules. By affixing reflector stickers on vehicles, police aim to increase visibility, prevent accidents, and save lives. "Even saving one life would be a tribute to the efforts of Shivamogga police," Mithun Kumar said."The campaign is an ongoing effort to ensure public safety and promote responsible driving practices in the region. By working together, the police department and the public can help reduce accidents and make the roads safer for everyone," the officer said.
