Mysuru: With less than a week to go for the first-of-its-kind satyagraha demanding pro-people governance in the city, many intellectuals have extended support for the event. According to the organisers, novelist S L Bhyrappa, sarod player Rajiv Taranath have extended support for the cause.
The satyagraha comes amidst the Save Chamundi Hills Committee deciding to call on the DC KV Rajendra on January 25 and seek details of the projects planned atop Chamundi Hills.
It can be recalled that several NGOs are observing Satyagraha on Sunday seeking good governance in the city. This Satyagraha will start at 9am and conclude at 6pm. According to activist Bhamy V Shenoy, who is one of the organisers of the satyagraha, the response for the initiative is good. Students, traders, residents groups, professionals from all walks of life are going an extra mile in support of the satyagraha, he said. Novelist SL Bhyrappa, sarod player Rajiv Taranath have voluntarily extended support for our concern we want to raise through this agitation, he said.
“This satyagraha is not against anybody. Instead it is an introspection among ourselves. We want to put pressure on the stakeholders,” he said.
BS Ajai Kumar, executive chairman, HealthCare Global Enterprises, said that Mysuru is a great city, and we all must work towards keeping its legacy intact. “We should care for this city, and create awareness among the people. I am happy that a silent Satyagraha planned in this direction,” he said.
Former director of CFTRI V Prakash has coined a slogan for this Satyagraha ‘Mysuru matters to us, we shall matter more to Mysuru.’
