MYSURU: Employees of

Falcon Tyres

who have not been paid for the last two years have threatened to commit mass suicide if their long pending demands are not met by the management and government at the earliest.

On Tuesday, Sathagiri Enterprise who had given rubbers to the factory to manufacture tyres failed to get their dues of 2 crore. With a court order, representatives of

Sapthagiri Enterprise

came to Falcon Tyres to attach the slicing machine in the factory which is worth Rs 2 crore. MLA GT Devegowda, Vasu and district officials convinced representative of

Sapthagiri Enterprises

not to attach the machine. Employees have been safeguarding the factory by looking after it in shifts.

Anand and Shivanne Gowda, president and secretary of

Falcon Employees Union

, requested the government and management to provide them interim relief till the issues are solved. “Families of employees have pledged their valuables. Many have not paid school fees of their children. If the government and management do not intervene, employees have no other option but to take the extreme step. They are desperate,” added Shivanne Gowda.

On October 27, the chief minister assured the employees that their problems will be solved within 48 hours. Six meetings have been held at

Vidhana Soudha

since then, but with no development.

Speaking to TOI deputy commissioner D Randeep said, “Recently we sold tyres which were in the factory and provided some financial assistance to the employees. In days to come, machineries in the factory will be auctioned and on priority employees’ dues will be met and later the vendors dues”.

On March 2 or 3, they plan to meet former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda to help them resolve the crisis. The employees have also met the CM’s son, Dr Yathindra.
