RTI activist accuses Lokayukta police officers of neutralising Muda scam
Mysuru: RTI activist Gangaraju has accused Lokayukta police officers in Mysuru of not following the law and trying to neutralise the alleged Muda scam. He requested the governor to recommend an investigation by a central govt agency or by the CBI.According to Gangaraju, who spoke to TOI, he filed the complaint to the governor via e-mail and registered post. He claims that despite collecting 1,000 pages of evidence related to the scam, some Lokayukta officers colluded with the urban development department authorities to cover up the scam instead of conducting a raid.Gangaraju alleged in the complaint that an inspector of Lokayukta gathered evidence about the alleged irregularities soon after he filed a complaint. However, despite Lokayukta sleuths in Mysuru seeking a search warrant from higher-ups in Bengaluru, it was delayed and subsequently, the matter was leaked to the govt. Thereafter, documents related to the scam, particularly about the 50:50 scheme, disappeared, he claimed. In his complaint, Gangaraju requested the governor to investigate why Lokayukta has not taken legal action based on the report and why a search warrant was not issued immediately after a request from Mysuru Lokayukta police.‘Govt will root out corruption'Congress MLC Yathindra, son of CM Siddaramaiah, on Tuesday said the govt is committed to ensuring that no irregularities occur in Mysore Urban Development Authority (Muda). Highlighting the need to prevent corruption in the urban development body, he said: "The CM is also considering to take up measures to curb alleged irregularities." Saying that he has no information on whether Muda chairman K Marigowda will resign, Yathindra said the govt will take necessary measures to unearth irregularities at Muda.
