Murthy was referring to the controversial book on Lord Rama written by rationalist K S

Bhagavan

.

After releasing the book ‘Rama Mandira and Ordinances – An Analysis’ penned by Sudhakara Hosalli at an event organised by Rajya Saikshanika Diksuchi and Sudharana Samithi and Akila Bharatiya Sahitya Parishat at Cauvery auditorium of KSOU on Saturday, Murthy said, ”I am neither rightist nor leftist, I am a straightforward person and speak truth which is harsh and blunt. I have always spoken my mind without fear.”

Murthy said Hosalli’s book highlights the need for construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Expressing his ire against Bhagavan, Murthy said he has written in his book that Rama was a drunkard, which created a controversy. “Such remarks in the book are made to gain cheap publicity. I don’t know who named him Bhagavan (God). Now they would be repenting. The silence of noble people in a society gives opportunity to such people to create nuisance,” he said.

Murthy also criticized writer Chandrashekar Patil, popularly known as Champa, for making critical comments about Hindu gods.

Later, Kendra Sahitya Academy member Akanda Karyappa said writer Bhagavan has wrongly understood the verses of epic Ramayana. He also targeted former chief minister Siddaramaiah and demanded an FIR against him for speaking against PM Modi during an election campaign in Kodagu. “Siddaramaiah still controls police and the government,” he added.

Adichunchanagiri Mutt seer Someshwaranath swami and RSS convener M Venkataram were present.
