2.8L register for Ayushman Bharat scheme in Kodagu dist

Madikeri: A total of 2.8 lakh beneficiaries have registered for the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana scheme so far in Kodagu, Kodagu DHO Dr Satish stated.Registration for the new Vayo Vandana scheme is in progress in the district, he stated. The beneficiaries can avail themselves of the insurance facility only if the private hospitals where they receive treatment are registered under this scheme. However, no private hospital in Kodagu district is registered under this scheme. He added that many modern treatments are available at the Kodagu District Hospital in Madikeri, and beneficiaries can avail themselves of the insurance facility there.The scheme aims to completely waive medical expenses up to Rs 5 lakh for BPL cardholders. APC cardholders can become beneficiaries of the scheme by obtaining Ayushman Bharat cards. The cost of approximately 1,900 different types of treatments and medicines up to Rs 5 lakh is covered through this insurance scheme. As a continuation of this scheme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the AB-PMJAY Vayo Vandana programme on Oct 29. Under this scheme, irrespective of the financial status, beneficiaries will have medical expenses up to Rs 5 lakh covered by this insurance. The only condition is that the beneficiaries should be above 70 years of age.
