Rajendra asks officials to prepare for launch of Mission Indradhanush

Mysuru: Deputy commissioner KV Rajendra on Wednesday directed the officials of the health department to be prepared for the launch of Intensified Mission Indradhanush.The government has directed to launch the of Mission Indradhanush 5.0, vaccination drive, to cover the left-out children and women. The DC directed the officials during a meeting at zilla panchayat. “Under the programme, all children and pregnant women should be covered to eliminate measles and rubella,” Rajendra said.“The drive will be conducted in three rounds - the first will be between August 7 and 12 and the second round will be from September 11 to 16. The final round will be from October 9 to 14,” the DC said and directed the officials to identify the unvaccinated children and women. District health officer Dr Kumaraswamy said that 5,500 children and 1,211 pregnant women need to be vaccinated. “Vaccination will be administered at 900 specially established vaccine centres,” he informed. Rajendra also directed the officials to create awareness about the spread of dengue. “With the onset of monsoon, the cases are increasing and the officials must create awareness among the people,” he said.
