Raitha Sangha calls strike against Union, state govt policies on Feb 12
Mysuru: Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha secretary HR Naveenkumar on Saturday urged farmers, labourers and the working class to ensure the success of the All India strike organised by various trade unions and farmers organisations on Feb 12.The strike is against both the Union and state govts' anti-people, anti-farmer, anti-labour and anti-democratic policies, he said.
Addressing the gathering at the third district-level Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha conference held at Buddha Vihar here, Naveenkumar described the ruling dispensation at the Centre as a corporate-oriented govt, which is not in favour of farmers and labourers. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to double the income of farmers during his regime, but farmers were most affected during his govt," he stated. He also criticised the state govt led by chief minister Siddaramaiah for delaying the distribution of title deeds and land ownership rights for 20 lakh farmers cultivating bagair hukum and other govt land across the state. "CM Siddaramaiah, who claims to be the champion of social justice, has also neglected the interests of poor farmers," he stated."Former minister D Devaraj Urs successfully introduced various land reforms and declared tenants as owners of the land by bringing historic land reforms, but the state Congress govt indulged in evicting farmers from their land and acquiring fertile agricultural land under the guise of carrying out development works against the interests of farmers," he said.During the meeting, Chikkannegowda was selected as the district unit chief, Jagadeesh Surya as district secretary, and Prashanth Padukone as treasurer.
