Pass percentage: Mandya, Hassan dists stand 2nd, 3rd in state
Mandya/Hassan: Mandya and Hassan districts ranked second and third in the overall pass percentage in the state, respectively, in SSLC results which were announced on Monday. Chitradurga district recorded a pass percentage of 96.80% and stood at the top in the state. Mandya district recorded a pass percentage of 96.74%, while Hassan recorded 96.68% results in the year. However, Mandya has improved its pass percentage from 94.70 % in 2022.Mandya DDPI Javaregowda ST attributed the record results to the various innovative activities carried out in the district to prepare the students for the examination. “Previous and present DCs and chief executive officers (CEOs) of zilla panchayat keenly followed our preparations and guided us. CEOs held review meetings once every 15 days. Similarly, we were holding meetings of BEOs, and other stakeholders regularly. Workshops on examination, experiments like Open Book test, surprise test, and other academic activities helped us to achieve this milestone,” he said.Three students from the district Mokshalakshmi J, Ashirwad English Medium School, KR Pet; Punyashree TR, JJ Public School, Halagur, Malavalli; Kushika Adarsh, New Oxford High School, Srirangapatna scored 624/625, which is highest in the district.Hassan district has slipped to third place in SSLC results. However, the overall passing percentage has increased by 1.08%. The district topped in 2022 with 95.60%. Hassan missed first place by 0.12%, said deputy director for public instructions K S Prakash.A total of 19, 234 students appeared for the examination. This year, no students have secured full marks while 31 students had secured 100% results last year, he said.According to him, 50 points action plan, adoption of schools by the education department officials, practising of model question papers, district and taluk level preparatory examination, a workshop for assistant teachers, implementation of passing and scoring package, and other measures resulted in yielding good results, he said.A team, led by the DDPI, had conducted a survey to identify the schools that yielded poor results, and a learning guarantee plan was implemented to prepare poor students to score passing marks. Meghana KL, a student from Elite School, Hassan, and Yamuna UN, a student of Gyarahalli Tammayya World School, Hassan, are the district toppers by securing 624/625 marks.
