Parks near high tension wires worries Mysuru residents
MYSURU: Walking and jogging tracks and
In vacant stretches below high-tension lines, the civic body has constructed walking paths, planted saplings and laid lawns. Every day, gardeners water the planst and lawns. A number of women and men stroll in the park and joggers use the place in the morning and evening.
These parks, inaugurated by the civic body six months ago, were built by MCC under the Union government’s Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT)) scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015. The MCC has spent Rs 1 crore on each park.
Sharadadevi Nagar resident Shivajirao, 67, told TOI the area in and around his residence has many vacant spaces which could be converted into parks rather than use space below high-ension lines. There’s a possibility of accidents, he added.

told TOI the construction is still in progress and MCC is taking all safety measures. The project approves construction of walking paths and not play areas for children and therefore MCC is not allowing children’s play equipment likes ladders and swings. It is totally illogical idea of MCC to have parks under High Tension lines. As high tension lines have more frequency, it causes health issues (with brain damage) to people who walk under that. Ideally the space below high tension wires should be kept non interfacing area ..also in Vijayanagar 2nd Stage already children play area has been put in the park which is totally unacceptable......in summary, the safety of people is under risk and MCC should not develop any parks under high tension lines....MCC need more education on this.Read allPost comment
