MANDYA / CHAMARAJANAGAR: More than 6 lakh people are expected to participate in the Kumbh Mela which will be held from October 14 at Ambigarahalli in KR Pet taluk, sports minister KC Narayanagowda said on Thursday.

Speaking after launching the Mahadeshwar Jyoti Yatra at Male Mahadeshwara Hills in Chamarajanagar district with Mandya district minister K Gopalaiah, he said Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai will attend the religious meet on October 16.

Dharmasthala Dharmadikari Virendra Heggade will inaugurate the Kumbh Mela on October 14. A religious meet is hosted on the banks of river Hemavathi on October 16 in which more than 40 eers from different communities will participate, he said.

Mahadeshwara Jyoti Yatra will be taken out in Mysuru, Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts to bring happiness, peace and prosperity in the state, he said.

Shanta Mallikarjuna Swami of Salur Mutt, Hanur MLA R Narendra, CADA president G Nijaguna Raju and Mandya DC S Ashwathi were present.
