Officials review monsoon preparedness in Ponnampet
Madikeri: Kodagu district nodal secretary NV Prasad instructed officials to make necessary preparations for monsoon. He reviewed monsoon preparedness at Ponnampet taluk panchayat on Tuesday.
“Necessary precautions should be taken in sensitive areas of the district, and information should be provided to families in flood-affected areas,” Prasad said. Work should be done to provide all kinds of basic amenities at the care centre, he said, and directed officials to complete the works of school and anganwadi buildings in the district that are in a dilapidated condition and ensure that no mishaps occur.
The meeting discussed the works completed and the problems related to drinking water supply. He asked officials to complete the incomplete works under the JJM scheme.
With the onset of monsoon, the agriculture department advised farmers to get adequate information about fertilisers, seeds, urea and agricultural machinery to ensure that farmers do not face any problems.
All kinds of preparations have already been made in the district, a helpline centre has been opened, and nodal officers have been assigned, deputy commissioner SJ Somashekhar informed the meeting. He said that all precautionary measures have been taken for monsoon season.
The progress of various departments, including the animal husbandry and horticulture department, was discussed in the meeting.
