Mysuru: State BJP vice president and

Mysuru

MP Prathap Simha on Thursday claimed that Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan did not wage war against the British empire. He said the ruler tried to negotiate sitting inside the fort in Srirangapatna with the British and stated that his body was found inside the fort.
“Tipu is projected as a ruler who fought against the British troops valiantly, but where did he fight during the third and fourth Anglo-Mysuru wars? He died inside the Srirangapatna fort. Does a tiger die inside its cage? He tried to negotiate during the war,” he said.
Tipu died on May on 4 May, 1799 during the fourth Anglo-Myuru war at Sriranapatna and his body was found among the soldiers inside the fort in the historical town.
According to the MP, Mysuru maharaja

Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar

, who initiated several development projects that put Mysuru on a fast track to growth, is

Mysuru tiger

.
He said Congress is promoting Tipu for its political survival. Former CM Siddaramaiah projected him as a hero for his political growth, he said adding that the Congress leader is now trying to woo Dalit voters by promising loan waiver if he is elected as the CM again. TNN
