Mysuru jail authorities recommend names of 26 convicts for release on Republic Day

Mysuru: As many as 26 convicts in Mysuru Central Prison are expected to be released from jail for their good conduct on Republic Day.
Following an approval by the advisory board, the jail authorities have recommended the names of 26 prisoners -- all men -- to the government for their release on good conduct. Only those who have served 14 years in jail, including the period of detention, are eligible for release on good conduct.On August 15, 2016, 52 convicts, including 17, women were released.
Divyashree, superintendent, Mysuru Central Prison, told TOI that she may get the list of prisoners to be released in a day or two.
There are 927 prisoners including 51 women in Mysuru jail , of them 513 are undergoing life imprisonments for various offences including murder and rape.
