MMCRI plans single entry and exit system at KR Hospital to prevent unlawful entry
Mysuru: Chamaraja assembly segment MLA K Harishgowda, who attended the governing council meeting of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMCRI) on Tuesday, revealed that the institute has plans to introduce a single-entry and single-exit system at the govt-run KR Hospital to prevent unlawful entry.KR Hospital, due to the increased patient load, the authorities are planning to control those entering the campus aimlessly. Scanners will also be installed to record the time of entry and exit of staff, including doctors.
After the meeting, the MLA told reporters that the governing council of MMCRI met on Tuesday to review key administrative and service-related issues concerning KR Hospital, Cheluvamba Hospital, the Super Specialty Hospital, and the Trauma Care Centre.Strengthening security arrangements was discussed in detail, including deploying additional security personnel and increasing the number of male guards to monitor entry and exit points of various buildings and units more effectively.The council also decided that a CCTV installation project would be taken up to enhance surveillance, deter unauthorised access, and support incident monitoring across the hospital premises. Alongside security measures, members emphasised the need to focus on cleanliness and ensure better upkeep of hospital facilities to improve patient experience and safety.In a major service upgrade, the council approved setting up a Critical Care Unit at Cheluvamba Hospital at a cost of Rs 56 crore, to be funded from the institution's own resources. The proposed unit is expected to strengthen emergency and intensive care services and reduce pressure on existing facilities.The MLA said governing council members Dr K Mahadeva, Sunil, and Tanuja offered suggestions to improve services across MMCRI hospitals, including the Trauma Care Centre. They also stressed the importance of doctors' behaviour with the public, calling for more patient-friendly communication and professionalism in service delivery.The MLA said that Kotak Mahindra Bank is providing an MRI machine worth Rs 8 crore, and it will be installed at the Super Specialty Hospital. This will benefit thousands of patients visiting the govt facility seeking medical help.In response to a query, the MLA stated that security staff who were accused of taking bribes from relatives of patients to allow them inside the hospital were removed, and a strict vigil is now being kept to check any such unlawful activities.
