KSIC factory in T Narasipura will not be closed: Mysuru dist minister
Mysuru: Amid rumours about the closure of the KSIC unit in T Narasipura, district minister HC Mahadevappa on Monday stated that there is no question of closing the KSIC factory down, and made it clear that if the land is required for expansion, the stadium will not be constructed at the proposed site.Speaking to reporters on Monday, he stated that Tipu brought silk to Mysuru and the Wadiyars made many products, including the Mysuru silk, famous. "MP Yaduveer Wadiyar met the chief minister recently, and submitted a memorandum in this regard," he said.
"Sericulture minister K Venkatesh already spoke to the employees and discussed the issue with the concerned officials. Certain individuals are creating unnecessary confusion over the issue," claimed Mahadevappa."The govt earlier decided to utilise unused land. If it causes any inconvenience to the silk factory, the stadium will not be built on that land. The silk factory is important to us," he asserted."There is no need for workers or public to panic. Our govt gives the highest priority to the growth of silk industry. Protecting the factory is our responsibility," the minister said, adding that the BJP was politicising the issue and creating confusion for political reasons. The minister said he already held a meeting with sports and silk department officials and would take a final decision after reviewing all aspects. "If it is absolutely necessary, the stadium will not be constructed on that site," he reiterated. On the issue of power-sharing within the party, minister Mahadevappa maintained that he would not comment on statements made by others. "I will not respond to what anyone says about me. Party matters will be decided by the high command," he said.Responding to queries on the safety of Kannadigas amid the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, the minister said the state govt is taking necessary steps to ensure their protection. "The chief minister has initiated action, and we have not receive any information about people from Mysuru being affected, so far," he added. On internal reservation, Mahadevappa said the Constitution and the law would be strictly followed. "Some people speak according to their whims and without proper information. In a democracy, fact remains a fact. We cannot implement something just because someone says so. The law and the Constitution will be followed," he stated.
