SHIMOGA: State BJP president KS Eshwarappa has defended his statement on adopting saffronisation programme. He said at a function to mark the inauguration of certain developmental activities in Shimoga on Wednesday that he will stand by his statement.
Eshwarappa said he was ready to face any challenge and was ready to go to jail if need arises.
He further said that 'saffronisation' is not 'Hindutva' and that it should be viewed in a larger perspective.

Including it in textbooks to teach young mind is not a sin but essential, said Eshwarappa.
Reacting to the growing dissidence in the party, Eshwarappa said the party high command will take a suitable decision and that they would stand by it. He added that there is no need to attach much importance to the activities of a few members of his party who have expressed certain opinion.
Eshwarappa said planting trees, manuring and watering them are also a part of our culture and tradition. He supported the views expressed by secondary education minister Kageri in this regard.
