Mysuru: KR Hospital has opened a dedicated sunstroke ward to ensure timely care for people affected by extreme heat, following govt directives and rising summer temperatures.The 20-bed facility has separate sections for men and women, with 15 beds each, and will provide treatment free of cost. Hospital authorities said the ward has been set up purely as a precaution, as there has been no rise in sunstroke cases in the region so far this season. As of Wednesday, no sunstroke-related cases had been reported at the hospital.Last year, KR Hospital recorded only one case of sunstroke. Officials said the decision reflects the need to stay prepared amid changing weather conditions, despite the low incidence.Dr Shobha, medical superintendent of KR Hospital, said the special ward is intended to provide focused, immediate care to patients with sunstroke symptoms.
