Kannada lit fest in Mandya: KSP holds preparatory meet

Mandya: Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Mahesh Joshi on Monday announced that 87th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana will be held in Mandya in December. Speaking at the preparatory meeting held as part of the proposed convention, he said that suggestions given by the district-level officials and Sahitya Parishat office bearers are considered for the smooth conduct of the event. Joshi said that 87 books will be released and 87 achievers felicitated as part of the sammelana. “We will prepare well in advance to ensure that the shortcomings at the Haveri convention do not repeat in Mandya. Also, arrangements will be made to make the venue plastic-free,” he said, adding that 150 acres of land is required to organise the event in a hassle-free manner. Deputy commissioner HN Gopalakrishna directed the officials to start preparations for the convention and ensure that there are no shortcomings. Later in the day, officials and Joshi visited various places including Chikka Mandya, Ummadahalli Gate scouting for the venue.
