K-CET to be held on April 23, 24 with dress code officer at each centre
Mysuru: The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to professional courses like engineering, agricultural sciences and veterinary sciences for 2026 will be conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) on April 23 and 24. For the first time, each centre will have a dress code officer to avoid confusion.On April 23, physics and chemistry tests will be held, while mathematics and biology tests will be held on April 24. According to KEA executive director H Prasanna, to prevent malpractice, CCTV surveillance will be used. All 745 centres will be monitored through webcasting. DCs, commissioners and zilla panchayat CEOs will oversee arrangements at the district level, he said.In Bengaluru alone, 77,604 candidates will appear across 163 centres. A central command centre has been set up at the KEA office.Necessary facilities will be provided to 970 differently abled candidates who will take the tests. Those using hearing aids must report two hours early for additional verification, he explained.POINTS TO NOTE What to wear * Students are advised to wear half-sleeve clothing and prefer clothes without collars * For male candidates, kurta-pyjama and jeans are not allowed, and shoes are prohibited * Strictly banned items: Cellphones, bluetooth devices, earphones, microphones or any electronic gadget Reporting time Authorities have advised students to arrive two hours early before the exam due to strict checking procedures. Facial recognition As per the foolproof plan, facial recognition and QR code verification will be used. This ensures that no one writes the test on behalf of someone else. The same verification will be used during college admission. Chance to improve Students who scored low marks or failed in II PU first exam still have a chance to improve. They are encouraged not to skip CET. Marks from the second exam will also be considered in CET results
