Injured factory worker dies

Mysuru: An employee of Bannari Amman sugar factory in Nanjangud, who was injured and hospitalised following an incident in the factory, succumbed to the injuries on Tuesday. Appaji, 55, sustained injuries after a boiler opened while he was at work on July 28. He was being treated for injuries, but he died early on August 8, said Biligere police.
Sources said a section of employees protested holding the factory management responsible for the incident, and demanded compensation.
Five peddlers detained
Five people have been detained by Bylakuppe police for possessing and selling ganja near the Tibetan settlement camp at Bylakuppe on Tuesday. A police team raided the spot after informants tipped off about the illegal trade.
The accused were keeping the ganja inside a car, and were trying to find buyers. Police seized the car and detained all the five – one from Odisha and two each from Mysuru and Kodagu. Police seized about 29 kg and 103 gm of ganja from them. tnn
