Infosys picks 93 students of Maharani’s college in Mysuru

Maharani

’s Women’s Commerce and Management College, Paduvarahalli here were selected by IT giant Infosys in its campus recruitment drive which was carried out online.

A majority of these students are from rural backgrounds. Many students said they had never even dreamt they’d be hired by an IT major like Infosys. In all, 700 students of the college attended the placement drive by Infosys. The minimum cost to company for these students will be Rs 2.3 lakh per annum.

Pallavi G and Prakruthi G, two BCom students hired by Infosys, said it’s god’s grace. They said training received in the college and their communication skills landed them the job. Pallavi G said she’d later like to become an entrepreneur.

College principal GH Mahadevaswamy said students used online training for skill development.

"Over the next few days, we expect more companies to complete their hiring and more opportunities for our students," he said.

Niranjana Babu HS, college placement officer, said it was his dream to bring a company like Infosys for the campus placement drive. "Two years ago, our students had attended the Infosys placement drive in another college. Of 350 students who attended it, only two were selected. That's when I decided to bring Infosys to our campus. After regular follow-ups, the company agreed to come to our college. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, it was done online. We're proud of our student's achievements. The majority of our students are from rural areas. This achievement will help children realise their dreams. In our college, we also train and support students to become entrepreneurs."
