Today, youth have various opportunities to grow, prosper: VP

Mandya: Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday said that India is now shining with the nation achieving economic progress. Unlike earlier, when corruption was rampant, it has now been curbed, allowing the youths various opportunities to grow and prosper, he said while interacting with students at the Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, attached to the Adichunchanagiri University at BGS Nagar in Bellur, Nagamangala.
Stating that India is now offering an abundance of opportunities to youths, he mentioned that youths should also join the Indian defence forces and explore possibilities available in the space sector. Dhankhar underscored the importance of values such as respect and service to one's mother and motherland, urging students to embody these qualities.
He cautioned youths about the perils of social media and its ill effects. He said it poses a danger to national security. "India has always promoted the concept of a global family. It has now come under strain, which needs to be addressed seriously," he stated, stressing that none should destroy the social fabric and secular values of the nation.
The VP launched the Digi-Med app during the event. He praised the role of educational institutions in fostering culture with education, noting that the Adichunchanagiri Mutt has managed numerous schools and colleges, including those for visually impaired, hearing impaired, and disabled children, not just in Karnataka but outside the state too. In a democracy, education and culture must go hand-in-hand for a developed India by 2047, he added.
Dhankhar also acknowledged former prime minister and Rajya Sabha member HD Deve Gowda for his dedication to farmers and rural development. He called Gowda the farmers' PM, who has remained steadfast in working for the growth of the farming community. Even at this age, Gowda talks about farmers' issues during debates at the Rajya Sabha, he said.
Gowda has stressed on rural development for the progress of the nation. "It was the vision of former seer, Balagangadharanatha Swami, who set up educational institutions in rural areas to empower the community. He focused on providing basic facilities in rural areas, mainly potable water," Gowda stressed.
Adichunchanagiri Mutt seer, Nirmalanandanath Swami said that the mutt is providing education to over 1.66 lakh students in over 500 educational institutions. Balagangadharanatha Swami focused on education as he believed that education is the key to empowerment, he said.
