Hoysala grandeur displayed in a fragrant form in Hassan
Hassan: The Chennakeshava Temple in Belur, a 12th-century marvel built by the Hoysala kings on a star-shaped platform, along with other iconic historical monuments like the Hoysaleshwara Temple, the Gomateshwara statue, and the Hoysala emblem, were recreated at the flower show held as part of the Hasanamba festival at the Silver Jubilee Park in Hassan.The Chennakeshava Temple, famous for its intricate sculptures, captivating paintings, and stone creations, became the centre of attraction. The Hoysala emblem, a symbol of the empire's strength, valour, and victory, and the Hoysaleshwara Temple in Halebidu, dedicated to Lord Shiva and known as the Sri Shaila of Karnataka, were skilfully recreated using sand.The Gomateshwara statue, the world's tallest monolithic statue, located on Vindhyagiri Hill in Shravanabelagola, represents peace, non-violence, sacrifice, and simplicity. The statue of Gautama Buddha, born for the welfare of humanity and known for spreading knowledge and teaching that desire is the root of suffering, was also beautifully displayed.A replica of the Hemavati Reservoir, the district's lifeline, was adorned with various flowers, while replicas of animals and birds were carved using fruits and vegetables, captivating visitors. The Manjarabad Fort, decorated with millions of flowers, along with exhibits showcasing the journey of coffee from hill to cup and selfie points, attracted the public.The agriculture department's millet decorations, agricultural tools, and pest control displays, the fisheries department's ornamental fish, and the forest department's elephant artworks also piqued visitors' interest.Ramya Arun, a visitor, praised the flower show for bringing to life the unique features of Hassan's historical grandeur by decorating and displaying famous tourist spots with fruits and flowers. MP Shreyas Patel, who visited the show, commended the officials and artists for their wonderful creations.
