Homealone elderly woman murdered
Mysuru: An elderly woman was robbed of her gold chains before being murdered in Hunsur near here.
Bilikere police said Philomena, 60, was alone when the assailant entered her house on Wednesday afternoon. The assailant is said to have hit her with a blunt object from behind and robbed her jewellery.
Philomena, a resident of Maraduru village in Hunsur taluk, 12km from Hunsur, was running a petty shop right in front of her house abutting La Salette School.

Her son, an autorickshaw driver, and his teacher-wife, were away when the incident happened.
Police said the incident may have happened around 2pm, but it came to light when her daughter in-law returned home around 3pm. Police have launched a search for the assailant.
Private bus conductor dies in Kodagu accident
Kallikanda Subramani, 47, a private bus conductor, was killed in an accident at Bittangala on Wednesday night.
He was hit by a car when he was crossing a main road. After finishing his duty, he came in a bus to Bittangala to take his motorbike parked near Vijaya Bank to return to his home at Balugodu. Virajpet Rural police have arrested the car driver M Sadiq.
