MYSORE: At the age of 14, he is an art prodigy. Drawing and painting since the tender age of three and a half, he has won over 300 prizes so far. And with time he has grown so deft that his hands can create master works in almost every form of painting now.
Adarsh S is an artist for whom painting is a integral part of life. Immensely encouraged by parents Shivakumar and Nagarthna, he says it's thrilling to have proved his love for art through his works, even at the age of 14.
Says he, "My mother put me into painting classes when I was three and half. I have been learning since then and spend almost all my free time on creating art pieces. So far, I have made watercolour and oil paintings, mural paintings, glass and embossed paintings and posters. I love the art but like working on them only when I'm free for it is only then that I can indulge in it and enjoy thoroughly."
Glad over her son's achievements mother Nagarthna chips in, "he has received several awards at contests conducted by schools and art institutes. He has bagged the Dasara Kautilya award twice and prizes from Lalitha Kala Academy." What's more, his dexterity has even won him a prize that has secured his future. Two years ago, he won a drawing contest conducted by an insurance company which awarded a bond worth Rs 1,20,000 that will mature when he attains 18. Says his proud mother; "There is nothing more that we can we ask for. We have kept that money for his future. He can utilize it for anything useful. We are all proud that he has achieved this at such a young age. My entire family supports him whole-heartedly."
Adarsh has some unique plans for his future. The deft artist wants to put his artistic skills to use, a unique way. When asked what he aims to be, pat comes the reply, "I want to design cars. It's my dream."
