MYSURU: All faiths have a sole aim of uniting people irrespective of caste, creed, sex and colour, but unfortunately people these days are divided on religious lines, said Mohammed Kunhi, director of publishing house Shanthi Prakashana.

Delivering a special lecture at the religious meet organised on the third day of Suttur Fair on Thursday, Kunhi bemoaned that we are living in a polarized era.

“We should understand there is only one God for all faiths”, he added.

Renowned philosophers have pointed out in the past that world’s great civilizations were destroyed not by an external attack, but by internal squabbling and fight, he said.

“The bone of contention of all religions is over religious supremacy, but the aim of dharma is not to defeat people but to unite them. It never encourages anger and provocation among people,” he said.

In his address,

Karnataka Sahitya Academy

president B V Vasanthkumar advised Lingayats and Veerashaivas to stop fighting over the issue of religious status.

Hindus and Muslims must adopt the teachings of

Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa

and Santa Shishunala Sharief, he added.
