GP official in Lokayukta net

HASSAN: The Lokayukta police caught a gram panchayat official Nanjegowda red handed when he was accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 here on Tuesday.
Nanjegowda, secretary attached to B Katihalli gram panchayat, was trapped by Lokayukta sleuths, led by DySP Rudramuni, while he was accepting a bribe from Ramanna of the same village to issue a cheque for Rs 15,000 to construct a house under Ashraya scheme.
Lokayukta SP A N Swamy said, three months ago, Nanjegowda had demanded Rs 500 to issue a cheque for Rs 5,000 to a villager. The accused was later remanded to judicial custody.
