Women stepping towards nation-building today: UoM registrar

Mysuru: Women have gained independence and are stepping towards nation-building today, and it is because of the Constitution, said University of Mysore registrar VR Shylaja.The registrar was addressing the audience after inaugurating the Bharat Bhagya Vidhata programme organised by the department of information and public relations and the Dr BR Ambedkar Research and Extension Centre on the occasion of Ambedkar's 68th Mahaparinirvan Day at Vontikoppal Govt Pre-University College on Friday.She stated that Ambedkar advocated for women's independence by granting them legal rights. He emphasised the importance of women's freedom and literacy, and provided women with equal rights to men under the law, the KAS officer stated."If women are excelling in various fields today, it is the result of the moral freedom given to them by Ambedkar, who also worked for the uplift of the economically backward, advocated for women's equality, ensuring that women achieved equality at all levels of society," she said.During the event, a video presentation of Bharat Bhagya Vidhata by the department of information and public relations was screened. Following the event, Professor S Narendra Kumar, director of the Gandhi Study Centre, conducted an interaction with the students. The programme was presided over by M Jayaram, principal of Vontikoppal Govt Pre-University College.
