Palace open only for 5 hrs on Sunday
Tourists to Mysore Palace will be restricted on Sunday. Travellers can visit the palace between 12.30 pm and 5.30 pm, the Mysore Palace Board deputy director T S Subramanya said. On other days, the palace will be open from 10 am to 5.30 pm. The fabled golden throne will be taken out of the safe and fixed on Sunday.

Later, it will be extended special puja by the Mysore royal family at Amba Vilas, the glass topped hall where the throne will be on display during Dasara festival. Scion of Mysore royal family Srikantadatta Narasimharaaja Wadiyar will hold Khas Durbar (private durbar) at the hall.
Sound-and-light show suspended: The sound-and-light show at Mysore Palace has been suspended from Sunday. The son et lumiere will resume on October 26. The officials attributed it to Dasara festival. The sound-and-light show tracks growth of Mysore for over five centuries and is held between 7 pm and 7.45 pm on all days except Sundays and general holidays.
Competitions for senior citizens: Various competitions have been organized at JK Grounds as part of Mahila Dasara from October 9 to 11 for senior citizens. The competitions will be held between 10 am and 1 pm. The events include folk songs, light music, mimicry, mono-acting, elocution and memory test.
