CPK commemorates Akbar Ali on his centenary event
Mysuru: Veteran writer CP Krishnakumar on Sunday lamented that conflicts based on caste and religion are emerging in society. The writer was speaking at the centenary celebration of noted Kannada poet M Akbar Ali, which was jointly organised by the Mysuru Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat women's wing and the Zilla Chutuku Sahitya Parishat on Mysuru Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat premises in Vijayanagar. Krishnakumar, who was the president of the Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, said Akbar Ali was a pioneer of modern Kannada literature and a venerable figure. "Ali was my colleague, and I witnessed his simplicity and goodness. In short, he was a balanced and accomplished integrative writer," Krishnakumar said. He added that Dinakar Desai and Akbar Ali are the two significant writers of their genre. Former minister and Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait assured that he will work to develop a park in front of Akbar Ali's residence. Mysuru Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Maddikere Gopal and Chutuku Sahitya Parishat president Ratna Halappagowda were present.
