Child Welfare Committee ask cops to trace girl's parents: Officials
MYSORE: Child Welfare Committee on Saturday directed the city police to produce the parents of 8-year-old bonded labourer after they failed to turn up for a hearing.
CWC member L Parashuram said that they had on Tuesday issued a summons to the girl's parents to appear before the committee on Saturday. "But they seem to have absconded. Hence, we have asked Udayagiri (jurisdiction) police to produce them during the next hearing," he added.

Meanwhile, Sumaya, the employer of the girl, had sent a letter to CWC, seeking a week's time to appear before the committee. The committee has agreed to the plea, sought on health grounds.
The girl, who was rescued on November 23, had told CWC members that Sumaya, wife of a businessman, had inhumanely treated her. The employer had allegedly burnt her palm recently. This apart, the girl had disclosed that two of her sisters are also working as bonded labourers in Mysore and Kerala. To investigate the case, the committee had summoned the girl's parents for a hearing.
