HASSAN: Banavara police have registered a case against Arsikere legislator K M Shivalinge Gowda for violation of model code of conduct on Monday.
According to district chief electoral officer and deputy commissioner Navin Raj Singh, the Legislator had reportedly taken permission to host around 500 people for dinner. However, he allegedly arranged dinner for more than thousand people.
The event also saw pandemonium break out at the venue, a farm house situated on the outskirts of town.
Jinaraj Kanagavi, deputy superintendent of police, said Banavara police had registered a case against Gowda based on the complaint lodged by Basavaraj, the sectoral officer.
Police have registered cases based on Section 109 of the Karnataka Police Act and Section 171-B of the IPC against him.
However, Gowda has not arrested by the police in this connection.
