Buildings flooded in Chikkamagaluru

CHIKKAMAGALURU: Chikkamagaluru experienced heavy rain on Sunday, causing damage to private properties, houses, and warehouses. The rainwater flooded several buildings, leaving residents to deal with the aftermath of the showers.

In one incident, a collapsed compound wall damaged two two-wheelers. Additionally, two houses and a fertilizer godown were inundated with rainwater due to drains that overflowed at Uddeboranahalli. According to locals, the flooding destroyed fertilisers worth lakhs of rupees.

The villagers held the National Highway Authority of India responsible for the incomplete work, claiming that the ongoing long-pending projects have blocked the drains, which lead to the flooding.

In another incident at Kaske village in Aldur, a tree fell on a house, causing extensive damage. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in this case.

The Malenadu region of the district, including Kalasa, Sringeri, Koppa, Mudigere, Balehonnur, and parts of Narasimharaja Pura taluk, also experienced heavy rain on Sunday. While no human or cattle deaths have been reported. About three people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents this season in the district.
