Mysuru: Mysuru Bar Association on Tuesday stayed away from court proceedings to protest the remarks by MP Pratap Simha on
Congress leader
Siddaramaiah, which the advocates’ fraternity said was insulting to the profession.
The advocates held a sit-in near the Gandhi statue in front of the courts.
The association has resolved to file a private complaint against the MP, write to state and central governments seeking action against
Simha and not represent him in court till he apologises for the remark against advocates.
Simha, while replying to reporters, on Saturday remarked that Siddaramaiah was practising law in a taluk court, then what does he know about economics.
The Bar association has decided not to invite Simha to any event by it and restrict him from canvassing for votes on the campus.
Association president M Mahadevaswamy said MP Simha’s remarks on advocates had hurt their feelings and the association condemned it.
