Action sought against 'erring' teacher
MYSORE: The deputy director of public instruction (DDPI) has directed the block education officer (BEO) of Nanjangud to initiate action against a teacher of Citizen's Public School for allegedly punishing a KG student.
The school authorities, however, have rejected the claims of the girl's father Raghu. According to the school authorities, Raghu, a leader of a pro-Kannada group, is making charges against them for not agreeing to provide free education to his daughter. "We have filed a complaint against him with Nanjangud police for allegedly blackmailing us," school secretary Noor Mohammed Ali said.
DDPI H R Basappa told TOI: "I have directed BEO Purushotham to initiate action against teacher Samaya after I received information about the alleged punishment on the student."
According to sources, the five-year-old girl has suffered bruises on her shoulder. This for the second time that the child was being punished, it is said.
Noor Ali said that he has not received any direction from the BEO concerned in this regard.
