ACP urges youth to adopt cycling at World Bicycle Day rally in Mysuru
Mysuru: Emphasising the importance of physical health, discipline and an eco-friendly lifestyle, assistant commissioner of police (ACP) of Mysuru Palace sub-division, Chandrashekar, called upon the youth and the general public to adopt cycling in their daily lives.
He was addressing the valedictory ceremony of the World Bicycle Day cycle rally organised in collaboration with Govt Youth Hostel Mysuru, Mysuru Athletes Club, Royal Riders Mysuru, Cyclopaedia Mysuru and Mysuru Cycling teams, here.
Chandrashekar appreciated the efforts of the organisers in promoting health, environmental protection and social responsibility through cycling. He opined that such programmes help in building a healthy society.
Over 50 cyclists participated in the programme, creating awareness about healthy living, road safety and environmental protection.
Earlier, the inaugural event was held near Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple, where B Manjunath, deputy director of the department of public libraries, flagged off the cycle rally.
Ramesh Narasaiah, retired deputy commissioner of the commercial tax department, and Anil, president of Balya Foundation, were present.
Manjunath stressed the need for physical activity in daily life. Ramesh Narasaiah explained the importance of cycling in environmental protection. Anil appreciated the programme organised to create health and environmental awareness among youth.
The rally passed through Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple – Harding Circle (R Gate) – Gun House Circle – Basaveshwara Circle – Ramaswamy Circle – Fire Brigade Circle (Saraswatipuram) – Kukkarahalli – Gaddige Road – Govt Youth Hostel, Mysuru.
