MANDYA: Nagamangala, the home constituency of district-in-charge minister N Chaluvarayaswamy, remained tense after a night of violence on Wednesday. The town witnessed stone pelting and arson, with shops being set on fire by miscreants. In response, authorities imposed prohibitory orders and increased police presence.

Minister Chaluvarayaswamy, who also serves as the local MLA, visited the affected areas and urged the public to cooperate with the police investigation. He assured that those responsible for the violence would face strict action.

Meanwhile, Union Minister and Mandya MP HD Kumaraswamy blamed the Congress party's appeasement politics for the unrest. He alleged that the attack was premeditated and targeted a specific community, citing instances of stone and slipper pelting, as well as the use of petrol bombs.

"This is a preplanned attack," Kumaraswamy claimed, adding that it signals a breakdown in law and order. He further accused the ruling Congress of indulging in appeasement for political gains, which he believes triggered the incident.

The district administration announced a holiday for all the educational institutions in the town. The police detained over 50 persons in connection with the incident.

According to the preliminary survey, over 10 shops gutted totally while another 15 shops were damaged in the fire incident.
