MYSORE: A man was killed in an elephant attack in Punajanuru forest range in Chamarajanagar district.
According to family members of the victim, Kumbegowda, 60, had entered the forest to collect firewood on Wednesday, but his body was found in a farm belonging to Shivannegowda on Thursday morning.
Punanjanuru range forest officer Mohammed Muzammil said: "We were alarmed that he had not returned home.
His body was found at a field. Going by the injuries he has sustained, we can say that he is killed by an elephant."
The forest department has given a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the victim's family.
