56 held for gambling, ₹18L seized

Mandya: The police raided a club in Mandya city and booked 56 people for allegedly indulging in gambling. Based on a tip-off, the Mandya police raided the club on Wednesday afternoon. The team also seized Rs 18,00,494 in cash from the spot. Though the practice of playing cards during Ugadi festival is still prevalent in the Old Mysuru region, people in the club were allegedly indulged in gambling with cash. Mandya superintendent of police (SP) N Yatish had ordered a ban on gambling activities in the city. “A case has been registered,” the SP said, adding that all the accused were released on bail later in the day.
